Hall of Famer Willie McCovey visits with members of the Arizona National Guard.

Teachers, parents and kids have written to let us know what they are doing to help our troops…..

Bobby is our 8 year old son and he earned this money from his little league season.  We heard about Barry Zito’s donation for every strikeouts for the troops and Bobby asked to participate too. He was so excited he told his grandparents , who said they would contribute too.  Through a combination of strikeouts while pitching, along with Bobby’s hits and walks he was able to rasie $55 from us and $47 from his grandparents.

He is very proud to be able to help such a great cause and we are very proud to have a son like Bobby.

This year in our 5th grade class, we’re continuing a Selfless Service Project called Recycle America.  All year long students are asked to bring in empty aluminum cans to class.  I take all the cans to the redemption center.  When we accumulate $10 in cans, I write and send a check to a student chosen charity.  As a class, we have chosen to support Barry Zito and Strikeouts For Troops to help our wounded soldiers and their families.  We are donating all of the funds we’ve collected this month --$25 to your group.  We realize the importance of those who have sacrificed so much to defend our liberty and hope to continue to support our beloved troops.

Mr. Luan Truong, 5th grade Teacher

During my first two games, I struck out one batter and had 3 hits and 1 RBI.  It turns out I fractured my toe but now I’m back in action!  Here is my $10 for the troops!

I'm a 3rd teacher in Union City and my class during the past school year was sending letters to an injured soldier who lost his leg, but fortunately, he's home now with his family.  Although my summer school students can't really afford to send donations, we'd like to write get well cards and letters to the troops if it would help.

Tell Barry that I’m signing up again for the my 3rd season in Strikeouts For Troops!  I’m now in Royal High School.  I’ll have a good season so I can help the wounded troops!

Simi Valley, CA (2nd year of participating)

I manage a Pony baseball team of 9-10 year olds. We heard Mr. Zito on a radio broadcast talking about the troops. Our mustang ANGEL team would like to donate a dollar for every one of our team k's to our wounded soldiers.
